Policy
- Recognition by the European Commission of the “cascading use of wood” where wood products in panels are used, re-used and recycled as far as possible before burning at end of life – as a Circular Economy role model
- Stop distortive effects on raw material markets to come from subsidies and support schemes anchored in the Renewable Energy Directive Recast (RED II)
- Return of the wood-based panels sector to the provisional ETS carbon leakage list for the period 2021-2030
- Successful extension of anti-dumping tariffs on okoume plywood from China
- Authoring and co-signing the Venice Declaration, with EFIC, the furniture industry association, of a core set of principles for the industry’s contribution to the Circular Economy
Membership
- In 2017, EPF extended its membership base with leading plywood producers from Poland, alongside new associate members from Europe and North America
- In 2018, EPF welcomed Sveza, the world leader in birch plywood production, as a new member
- Tanne Sp Z o.o, a particleboard producer from Poland, joined our Federation in the beginning of 2020. In this year, we welcome the Portuguese producer of Particleboard and MDF, Investwood.
Global Coverage
- EPF’s global reach expands with new countries covered in the Annual Report (e.g. Turkey, Chile, and Ukraine), active participation in ISO, the International Organisation for Standardisation, the implementation of EPF 4 Africa and ever closer co-operation with North America via our sister organisations CPA and APA
